R22 Ban Countdown

It’s time for action...

Does your business use R22 refrigerant gases?

If your air conditioning equipment is more than ten years old, there is a good chance that it uses an R22 refrigerant gas.

From 1st Jan 2015, EC Regulations will make it unlawful for anyone to service or maintain their air conditioning system using an R22 refrigerant gas.

Therefore replacing existing air conditioning equipment with new cleaner, efficient systems is now a top priority for thousands of affected businesses across the UK.

Some customers have already taken the step to replace their old inefficient R22 equipment because they were quick to identify the significant savings to be made on energy running costs….

Saving over £150,000 a year

For The Connells Estate Agency Group, leaving things to chance was not an option.  ACS (UK) Ltd has recently completed an R22 replacement programme across over 200 of their branches.

Tackling the challenge of R22 replacement sooner rather than later is paying dividends for The Connells Group with running cost savings of over £150,000 a year and halving carbon emissions.  Read more..

Now is the time to act

According to industry estimates, there could be as many as 750,000 R22 systems still in circulation* including air conditioning splits, VRF, chiller and refrigeration plant systems.

As the deadline approaches, if everyone decides to leave their R22 replacement until the last minute, we believe that there could easily be a shortage of qualified accredited engineers (like ACS) to meet the changeover timescales, leading to scheduling issues, delays and the risk of supply-led price inflation.

Doing nothing until after the deadline and your company in accordance with EC Ozone Regulation No 1005/2009 risks the exposure of site shutdown and/or fines.
